In deep thoughts, my eyes are closed
Mind numb to the people around
The wall hugs my back,
A blanket of heaviness on my heart
What will it be, how will things happen
The circumvent whirl of questions
I put out all prayers
Take note of all Gods I know
I remember Shiva and the Gharib Nawaaz
I recite Gurbani and murmur Jesus Christ
I sense a strange smell,
I hear a cry
The door is pulled back
A veil of apprehension makes way
Her eyes are blank,
I try to read emotions
She takes a profound breath,
her lips pour those everlasting words
“It’s a Baby Girl”
It’s my second life
There is a renaissance of bliss
Of a feeling that had never been
An angel rests in my arms
a tear rolls down my cheek
Two little hands to hold,
A pure smile to devour
The eyes of her mother,
The lips of her father
I thank all my Gods
I embrace my second life…
That’s wonderful poetry, revealing the fine feelings and emotions of a father expecting an offspring.
Thanks for the feedback Easwar! 🙂

A beautifully written poem indeed!
God Bless!
Thanks for the wonderful comment Sheetal 🙂
honestly Piyush …. i do not like poems .. all the more with those heavily used dictionary words … life gets impossible , all the more for me 😉 …. I have confessed this to many bloggers(the ones i love reading) …. I will tell u what … this is what is a great read even for people like me who are scared of poems and stories.. !! Every line drives u to read the next and words let u imagine what the writer is feeling ….as if I was watching movies … bro…. u write ur heart out and trust me , it connected with very first line I read on your blog !!
It was my luck i stumbled upon on your site and now find me as a regular passerby on indigenou!!
LOL 😛 i understand the dictionary thing :D. I am extremely glad to have known that poem appealed to the Mango people…coz ultimately it was meant for them.
BTW thanks a lot for taking time out for reading the blog… Keep writing 🙂
Cheers!
I am an italian and don’t understand english much. But this poem is written in a simple yet convinving manner. I could feel the narrator’s feelings. Well done!
Thanks Zeflo…and welcome to the blog 🙂
Interesting and convinving!
Thanks Pete 🙂
You certainly know how to keep a reader amused. Between your wit and your words, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Fantastic job. I really loved what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it.
Thanks wyburzenia 🙂 That motivated me.
Welcome to the blog 🙂
